Maya is a playback singer in the South Indian film industry, who has been enthralling audiences in stage shows from the age of 7. Versatility is her forte; she has trained her voice to sing many genres with an ease that appears effortless on the stage.
Maya has performed in over 500 corporate shows for various clients all over India and every time, she has single handedly gripped the audience with her powerful voice and incredible on- stage energy.
Maya first came to the limelight when she became a finalist in the SS Music “Voice Hunt” and Vijay TV’s “Super Singer”. She was also chosen for the final 40 on the “Indian Idol” show, and captivated the hearts of the judges Anu Malik, Udit Narayanan, Alisha Chinoy and Javed Akhtar with her versatility. These appearances on TV, and being a prominent RJ on Radio Mirchi has made her a household name in the South. A public survey has declared her to be one of the most popular RJs in Chennai.
One of the Music Directors of Kollywood, Vijay Antony used Maya's voice for the blockbuster Serial "Kanaa Kaanum Kalangal" on Vijay TV. He was also the first to use her voice for the song “un thalai mudi” from the film "Kaadhalil Vizhundhen" though the first song to release was D.Imaan's song "Mobila Mobila" from Rendu the "Madhavan" starrer which gave Maya a foothold in the Tamil film industry.Maya has worked with prominent music directors like “Isaignani” Ilayaraja, Harris Jeyraj, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Vidhyasagar, James Vasanthan, Selva Ganesh (son of Grammy award winner Sri. Vikku Vinayakram), Devi Sri Prasad, and so on.
Her latest hits include “Hasili Fisili” from“Aadhavan” for Harris Jeyraj and “Sexy Lady” from “Ninaithale Inikkum” for Vijay Antony. Maya’s stage performances have been given rave reviews in various newspapers. She is now known not only as a versatile and soulful singer, but also for her innate ability to engage and enthrall audiences.
